From station to station: the fastest connection
The route planner finds the fastest connection between the 93 stations of the four U-Bahn lines U1, U2, U3 and U4. Unlike in many other cities, the fare in Hamburg does not depend on the number of changes: a single ticket for €3.80 (€3.55 in the hvv app) covers the whole journey in the Hamburg AB fare zone — changes included — as long as you travel in one direction and do not interrupt the trip.
Tips for planning your route
Changing lines costs nothing extra
The single ticket (€3.80, €3.55 in the hvv app) is valid for one journey in one direction, including every change — also between U-Bahn, S-Bahn, bus and ferry inside the AB fare zone. All fares are on the Tickets & prices page.
Trains every 3–5 Min.
During the day trains run every 3–5 Min., in the evening every 10 Min. The result adds 3 minutes for each change; you still need to add the walk to the station yourself.
Short walks — but not everywhere
At Jungfernstieg, Hauptbahnhof or Berliner Tor several lines meet, and the change takes a bit longer than the calculated minutes because the platforms are further apart. The network map shows every interchange station.
Check for engineering works

No. In Hamburg a single ticket for €3.80 (€3.55 in the hvv app) covers the whole journey — including every change, also between U-Bahn, S-Bahn, bus and ferry inside the Hamburg AB fare zone. The condition is that you travel in one direction and do not interrupt the trip.
It is a good guide value. It is calculated from the average time per station on each line plus about 3 minutes per change. It does not include the walk to and from the station, nor the longer waiting times late in the evening, when trains run only every 10 Min.
The all-day ticket for Hamburg AB costs €8.20 (€7.63 in the hvv app) — from the third journey in a day it is cheaper than single tickets. If you travel regularly, the Deutschland-Ticket (€63.00/month) is the cheapest option.
No. The U5 is not in service yet, and the extension of the U4 to the Horner Geest has not opened either — both are under construction. The route planner uses the four lines that run today: U1, U2, U3 and U4.
