A single ticket AB costs 3,80 € (about 7% less in the hvv app, 3,55 €); for short hops there is the short-trip ticket at 2,10 €, and for a whole day the day ticket at 8,20 €. Regular riders in practice use the Deutschland-Ticket (63,00 €/month). There is also the free, rechargeable hvv Prepaid Card for buying tickets — but it is a stored-value purse and not a tap-and-go card for checking in and out. Bicycles ride on the Hamburg U-Bahn free of charge — but not on weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. (the rush hour). Outside those blocked periods, and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, they travel free and without an extra ticket. Folding bikes count as luggage when folded and can be carried at any time. Space per train is limited — use the multipurpose areas and let passengers get on and off first.
